This story is a well-paced, solidly-written pageturner. Compelling characters in a unique setting make for a thoroughly entertaining read. Things get weird, but the main character's down-to-earth and entirely human perspective keeps the reader grounded through the plot's convolutions. The narrative is brisk and lean, conveying what's needed without wasting unnecessary words for the sake of prose itself.There's also a deeper conversation going on under the exterior plot, asking some questions -- without, perhaps, spelling out answers -- about the bigger problems of the universe.
This reads like the beginning of a series, and I hope that it is, because while we're given a good long peek into Tillie's weird world, there are a lot of loose ends left to be tied up, or perhaps further unraveled.

Definitely a worthwhile addition to the urban fantasy sub-genre. The story moved along at a good pace and the main characters were interesting. I'm definitely looking forward to another! Well worth the low price.
A bit LIKE Men In Black but nothing like it. A good read and enjoyable. I hope there will be more
I’m several chapters in to the book ( I will come back and revise/lengthen significantly once I finish), and I couldn’t wait to get a review up about this book. From the first few pages of the first chapter I was enjoying the racing thoughts of Tillie. There’s a slight sarcasm to her “inner monologue” that really strikes a chord with me.
I’m intrigued by her Character and yet I’m only 4 or 5 chapters in. I want to know more. As soon as I get a solid block of time I will devour the book.
So why leave a review when I haven’t even finished it yet? This book has pulled me in to its world. Almost like ours, but just one step to the weird. The author’s writing subtly reminds me of people like Robert Aspirin and Douglas Adams. Do yourself a favor and pick it up. I think you’ll like it.
