A flight in a small bushplane from an offshore commercial fishing boat to Anchorage turns bad. The water is slushed with ice, dotted with icebergs. The plane is lost, its pilot and passenger thrust suddenly into the super-chilled water. Yet somehow, somehow, there is survival where there should have been none. Not a miracle. No, one miracle would have hardly sufficed. Instead of one, one after another. An incredible story of cosmic help, a true story of amazing survival.
The Glacier Miracles eBook Douglas Terrel
This story meant a lot to me because I was there and could have been a participant in this tragedy, and the miracles that saved my son. Every day for the last 40 years I have thanked God that Douglas survived this terrible event. He described it so vividly that it was like reliving that day in Anchorage. I had gone to AK to visit him and his family and my brother Gerald and was staying at Gerald's house. One afternoon the phone rang and I heard my sister-in-law say, "Oh my God, the plane went down" and I immediately thought that we had lost our son. It was a while before I heard about the miracles that had saved him. Later, I realized that had it not been for the case of beer I would have been on that plane and would surely have gone to the bottom of the glacier lake. Saved by a case of beer or was it not to be?This happened less than a year after Douglas' return from his second tour in Vietnam. In his book he very modestly described his service in the military, he did not tell that he had received the Silver Star and two Bronze Stars for exceptional bravery. As a proud mother I can tell it. Later he became a commercial deep sea diver and dove off the Coasts of India and the Phillipines. He went from the bottom of the ocean to soaring in the sky with his paraglider. Later he became the VP and director of the diving school in Wilmington,CA. He moved to Taiwan and was the news director of a radio station. It was there he met the wonderful lady Barbara who was teaching at the American school in Taipei and is now his wife. His 'amazing' son from his first marriage is an outstanding citizen in every way. I am a proud and thankful mother, grandmother and Gr grandmother. I do believe in miracles. Elaine Terrel

The Glacier Miracles eBook Douglas Terrel Reviews
Great short story with a unique writing style. Amazing tale of chance and miracle. I would recommend to anybody interested.
iT WAS oK BUT THAT IS ALL.
the book was good, but should really be called a "kindle single" - extremely short, really just one or 2 chapters worth of writing, I felt a bit ripped off!
I read Douglas Terrel's other book and really enjoyed it, so gave this one a shot, too. A story about one man's survival after a small plane crashes in Alaska. If you like to think the Universe sometimes intervenes--in just very small ways--for our benefit, you'll like this one. A true tale. Makes you think about the apparently random events in our lives that affect us in ways we can't know, until something happens and we realize if one single moment had gone differently, one decision went another way, one person took a different turn, our lives would be very different, or over. Well-written story, you will read it in one sitting. And you will think twice about flying in small planes in Alaska in the winter! Carl Rogers said the "most personal is the most universal" and this book is case in point.
